'The Line of a Thigh' by ~Elmara:iconElmara:

Extend
         your lower limb
         your heel raised off the floor.

Note;
        prominence and tautness
        in the     line of your thigh
        as the heel              rises.

Watch;
        the line          vanishes
        to an     indistinct ridge
        as your heel descends.

Tracing,
        your                  Quadriceps Femoris
        (Latin, four-headed femoral muscle)
        with                         a steady finger.

It contracts
        in your                      palpable
        extension against resistance.
        An action is elicited,
                        is tested.

The Quadriceps,                        thus,
through its Patellar union, is allowed
an       approach         from a position
of greater mechanical      advantage.

Rendering your extension against resistance
                             futile.

in terms of power, aren't the jaw muscles able to deliver more force per square inch?

sure, yep, but the Quadriceps is the most powerful as a prime mover of bodily locomotion. plus thigh muscle was helluva a lot more sensual than jaw muscle. ^^;
